The standard LaTeX commands used in the body of the document should preferably be limited to those listed in Appendix 4. If you need to use other standard LaTeX commands, go ahead--but please inform Peter D. Mosses as soon as possible about which extra commands you need (in case of potential problems with conversion to HTML).

The package cofidoc, provided with and used by the template doc.tex, defines the following new commands and environments:

The package hyperlatex (of general use, provided with and required by cofidoc) defines moreover the following useful environments: and various commands and counters that may be used to affect the conversion of documents to HTML, e.g.:

To make the package cofidoc available to LaTeX when formatting a CoFI document, store the files cofidoc.sty and hyperlatex.sty in the same directory or folder as the document, or (better) in a fixed location where LaTeX automatically searches for packages.

Feel free to define new commands/environments of your own, for abbreviating frequently-used patterns of mark-up. Put them all in the preamble, before \begin{document}.

Use BibTeX for creating the bibliographic references. All currently-installed CoFI documents may be cited with their labels as keys, using the BibTeX file cofibib.bib; add any further bibliographic entries you need to the file doc.bib. See Appendix 5 for how to write entries with links to online documents.

Conversion of a CoFI document from LaTeX to HTML is done when the document is installed in the CoFI archives. For conversion prior to installation, see Appendix 6.

CoFI Note: C-1 --v1.0-- 23 May 1997.
