CoFI workshop at ETAPS'2000 in Berlin, 1-2 April 2000
Dear CoFI friends,
There will be a CoFI workshop in Berlin on 1-2 April 2000 as a
satellite event of the ETAPS'2000 conference. See
http://iks.cs.tu-berlin.de/etaps2000
for information about ETAPS'2000, and
http://www.dcs.ed.ac.uk/~dts/CoFI-WG/etaps2000.html
for information about the workshop. The workshop will consist of
working meetings of the various task groups, preceded by a 1.5-hour
general presentation of CoFI status. People who come only to this
general presentation are not required to register for the workshop.
The agenda for the meetings of each task group will be announced in
due course on its mailing list (cofi-language@brics.dk etc.) and this
information will be added to the CoFI workshop's web page.
If you plan to attend the workshop, please register as soon as
possible. Registration for ETAPS'2000 will start next week, and there
will be an online registration form. The early registration deadline
is 29th February. Hotel registration is available already and you are
*strongly encouraged* to do this now -- it may be difficult to find a
reasonable hotel if you wait. There are two "official" hotels, which
seem to differ only that one of them is an annex to the other. The
annex is slightly cheaper so I suggest you put that as your first
choice.
The workshop is an official meeting of the ESPRIT-funded CoFI WG which
means that funding to attend ETAPS'2000 and the workshop is available.
For the rules about funding, including who is eligible and the
procedure to follow, see
http://www.dcs.ed.ac.uk/home/dts/CoFI-WG/money.html
Don't forget to follow the rules about asking a working group
coordinator for permission before assuming that funding will be
available.
Please note that, as last year in Amsterdam, it is NOT justifiable to
cover attendance at all of ETAPS'2000 from CoFI WG funds. But the
ETAPS registration fee can be covered in addition to the costs of
attending the CoFI workshop.
So, for eligible people who have received permission from a working group
coordinator to attend, the following can be paid:
travel to/from Berlin
ETAPS registration + CoFI workshop registration
travel in Berlin while attending CoFI workshop
hotel Friday - Sunday maximum
meals Friday evening - Monday morning maximum
The following CANNOT be paid, except for people who are presenting
papers or demos ETAPS'2000 that are directly connection with CoFI/CASL:
hotel while attending the rest of ETAPS
ETAPS banquet ticket
The following CANNOT be paid for anybody:
ETAPS tutorials
other satellite events
extra proceedings volumes
There will be support from the European Commission for "young
researchers" to attend ETAPS'2000 (details from the ETAPS'2000 web
site soon). Anybody who fits the eligibility criteria is strongly
encouraged to apply for such support.
Finally, thanks in advance to Gunnar Schroeter and Kathrin Hoffmann of
TU Berlin for taking care of the local arrangements.
See you in Berlin!
Don Sannella
CoFI overall coordinator
